History

Birth country: England
Hometown: Epsom
Childhood: Richard was raised in a sorcerer family, but his mother was young and unmarried, and was deeply ashamed of him. She tried to hide him from those around her, and, focusing so much on not being found out and not seeming to really love her son, he sought to escape her. He was eventually discovered and taken in by his uncle.
Teen years: Richard's uncle trained him in magic. Interested in medicine as a whole and the idea of helping heal others, Richard leaned towards science magic. His uncle dislikes this choice, having hoped Richard would choose the same magic type as him, but helps him anyway.
Adult years: Richard hits the surge at age 23. His magic is not powerful or anything special and he struggles to find his niche. He struggles with work and relationships as well and develops depression. He actively distances himself from those still there for him, completely isolating himself, and turns to opiate abuse. It is the resulting addiction that causes him to first meet Garnet Dorado, primarily because Richard begins stealing to supply the addiction. They both attempt to hit the same place (with Garnet planning a murder), and both inadvertently save each others' lives. Richard is brought to Garnet's house, where he acts as a doctor to him and his brother, while he becomes a highly supportive friend to the healer and helps him with his addiction. Ricky accidentally gets Garnet smoking in the process. When Garnet's brother dies, Ricky becomes a rock of support, and tries to convince Garnet not to go out for revenge. He is unsuccessful. Later, he meets Mortis Grievance when the psychopath is involved in a car accident where he rolls away from the road and is found by Garnet and Ricky. Ricky heals him up and subsequently is dragged into Mortis and Garnet's killing regime. When Garnet finds out about his tumour, he ducks out of the organised killing thing for a time just to relax and make the most of things. Mortis leaves Ricky alone when they both get caught in a fire and both believe the other to have died, and he instead fits himself in with Carmichael Hauter and Benedict Electrolytic, who are much more within the law. They introduce him to his first wife (as well as him meeting Hiro Phantasmagoria, Indishan Anonymous and Ursa Borealis through them), however she, not understanding depression, is disgusted when he relapses into it. They have four children before they divorce. It is when trying to track down Hiro Phantasmagoria, believing he is in danger, that he meets his second wife. Again, their marriage does not last.
Past places of residence: Unknown
History of family: Unknown, though it is suggested they felt their social standing to be important.

Relationships

Parents: He has never met his father. His mother was a young, unmarried woman who quite likely suffered from postnatal depression.
Siblings: None known. It is very likely he has half-siblings.
Any enemies (and why): Zebulon Regicide, Mortis Grievance (briefly) and Arachne Basilisk, two because they are the dickish enemies of his friends and one because he is a scary mo-fo. He currently has no known enemies specific to him. He does not get on well with Esra Sunshine's associates.
Children: He has 4 children with his first wife and 3 with his second. Kathleen, Ely, Gretchen and Jenna are his first wife's children, and Callista, Randall and Jesus are his second wife's children. He hasn't much contact with his children as a rule, but will pay child support and buy gifts on birthdays and holidays. None of these children have so far been exposed to magic regardless of whether their mother is a mage or not.
Friends: Mortis Grievance, Garnet Dorado, Jayden Slander, Esra Sunshine, Indishan Anonymous, Hiro Phantasmagoria, Ursa Borealis, Carmichael Hauter and Benedict Electrolytic.
Best friend(s): Garnet Dorado and Carmichael Hauter.
Important friends/relatives (explain): Garnet, for all the above stuff where he saves him from so many things.
Love interest (if there is one): He has been married twice and twice divorced, and at least one of his ex-wives is a mortal with no idea magic exists.

Combat

Peaceful or violent: Peaceful
