Childhood: Alison underwent a fairly average childhood, though tended to be teased and even outright bullied for his name, which his peers considered to be feminine. Alison was shown to generally have a strong dislike of sports and sporting activity, however had an inexplicable love of swimming. Alison joined a competitive swimming team at a young age.
Teen years: Alison decided, because he enjoyed swimming so much and found himself unable to visualise himself in any career path happily, that he would become a professional swimmer. As a result, he took to doing smaller additional exercise to help, though only really kept to jogs and runs with his brother. Towards the end of his secondary education, he was offered a sports scholarship, likely related to a competition he took part in.
Adult years: Alison attended a university in Sydney, where he met Rin, Ezra and Hayden and befriended all three. Alison showed himself to be a particularly strong swimmer, eventually reaching a level that allowed him to compete at an Olympic level. In the story in which he first appears, Alison later loses contact with Rin despite the two promising to keep in contact, and jumps to a worst case scenario type conclusion, assuming something bad has happened to Rin. A few years pass before he sees Rin again, at which point he also meets Haruka Nanase. Later, Alison takes part in Freestyle swimming events in the Olympics, and is able to win a silver medal in one event. He is understandably excited to see Rin and Haru present at the event, having competed directly against the latter in one of his events, though Alison loses to him. In a different swimming event, Alison does manage to win a silver medal.

History of family: Alison's family has lived in Australia for a very long time. He supposedly has some aboriginal ancestry.

Relationships

Parents: Macey and Colin Melgar. Alison was not especially close to them, but nor was he especially distant. He views them as good parents.
Siblings: Alison has a brother named Chevy. They tended to fight a lot, however Chevy was very interested in helping his brother achieve his goals, possibly because he himself was very sporty and enjoyed exercising with him. Alison's phobia of dogs may be a direct result of Chevy's actions. Alison and Chevy are fraternal twins. According to an old character development questionnaire I did about Alison, he also has sisters, however, since I forgot they existed and replaced them with Chevy, I don't have much on Alison's relationship with them. They are called Mollie and Carter.
Any enemies (and why): None, not really. He's been bullied before, but as it was quite far in the past, and as Alison is a surprisingly forgiving person, he does not hold a grudge, even though this may be a contributing factor to his anxiety.

Friends: Alison is good friends with Hayden Smith, Ezra Harris and Rin Matsuoka. He considers Haruka Nanase a friend, however in everything I've written that includes both of them, it is suggested that Haru doesn't actually like him. He probably has other friends outside of this group.
